The following comes from a March 26 Fox News article:

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee said in a statement Friday he doesn’t want any city workers to travel to North Carolina unless necessary in wake of its legislation which blocks anti-discrimination for gay, lesbian and transgender people.

“Effective immediately, I am directing City Departments under my authority to bar any publicly-funded City employee travel to the State of North Carolina that is not absolutely essential to public health and safety,” Lee said in the statement.

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory signed a bill this week to void a Charlotte ordinance that would’ve provided protections against discrimination in public accommodations.

McCrory, who was the mayor of Charlotte for 14 years and had criticized the local ordinance, signed the legislation Wednesday night that he said was “passed by a bipartisan majority to stop this breach of basic privacy and etiquette.”

The law also prevents other cities and counties from passing anti-discrimination rules and imposes a statewide standard that leaves out protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity, according to KTVU-TV.

  1. Clinton R. says:

Completely ridiculous. How is it that people that supposedly represent 2% of the population are allowed to wield such power to control those of us who oppose their evil agenda?

    • Clinton ….I’ve sometimes wondered how many of us there are. My best guess is that Kinsey was way too high at 10% but that your 2% is too low. If you count bisexual women who often go unnoticed it mat be 4% or 5% I think. In any event, I think our Church generally teaches that unjust discrimination against any minority, no matter how small is wrong.

      • Ivy League says:

You can’t believe anything the pedophile Kinsey said. His work has been completely discredited.

      • Good point Clinton their near complete take over of the culture happened because those institutions who are supposed to protect the culture (the Church) were corrupted as well or infiltrated by indifference and weakness

        • Clinton R. says:

Exactly. Too many decades of homosexuality and pederasty that has infiltrated the ranks of the clergy have caused the bishops and priests to be silent in the face of this grave evil that has been foisted upon us.

  3. Michael McDermott says:

    San Francisco’s giants of intolerance

“San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee (D) may have just given North Carolina the greatest religious liberty thank-you gift ever! The out-of-control leader announced over the weekend that he’s banning travel to the state after the legislature put the brakes on a dangerous transgender bill that would have posed a serious safety risk to everyone in Charlotte.

If San Francisco wants to put its population at risk with policies of sexual radicalism, let it. But in North Carolina, real freedom comes first.

Just watching the first five minutes of this video will show you why the “transgender” bathroom law is a bad idea.

    Boycot Ed Lee Because:
SF government again rocked by child porn scandal

“Longtime San Francisco political consultant Enrique Pearce, an early backer of the “Run Ed Run” effort who was working as a $5,000-a-month consultant to Mayor Ed Lee’s re-election campaign…

“and many other well-known political figures in San Francisco, had photos and videos of infants and young children being raped and sexually violated when he was arrested, a prosecutor said Wednesday.

Pearce spearheaded the “Run, Ed, Run” campaign, encouraging Ed Lee, who had been appointed Mayor following Gavin Newsom’s departure, to run for…

  6. Well, I guess some of us boycott things from San Francisco, at least from the areas Mayor Lee goes, and buy more from the Carolinas. To each his own. He tried this with Chick Fil A, and it backfired on him.

  7. Margaret says:

    WOW, that is controlling.

  8. I thought San Franfreeko was in the United States where we had our liberties and rights deemed to us from our Creator as written into our US Constitution. Obviously the liberals/demoncrats march under the beat of another drum, a drum where the constitution is no longer revered, no longer obeyed, where their insanity goes. This Nazi-mayor should be ousted from office and sent off to live in North Korea where he can experience a loss in his liberties, and maybe learn a lesson or 2 million.

  9. I thought Amerika was the land of the free. I know now it is not. This is discrimination. Only 1 percent or less of our population is transgendered, (and God did NOT make them that way. He made them male and female), so why are we bowing to these? It is more of the politically correct nonsense that is killing our society and has already killed our culture.

  10. Pure political show boating. A simple question for the mayor. Just what cities are on your list that you allow non essential travel to for city business?

  11. Ah, I can’t wait until summer vacation on the Outer Bank: Nags Head, Cape Hatteras, Ocracoke. You can actually see the Gulf Stream current from the shore. And inland to the Biltmore and Appalachian Trail. A day in booming Charlotte to tuck in a little business.

It’s really true that nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina in the morning.

  13. Jesusita says:

I have an idea: all Calcatholic readers, boycott San Francisco (unless of course you live there). It was a beautiful city, but now it is Sodom by the Sea. Visit the wine country, San Jose, Muir Woods, and Oakland, but stay away from this evil town, and perhaps by not spending money there, the revenue will decrease. This is just a thought I had. Ave Maria Purrissima !

  14. This American Communist city was responsible for the murder of an innocent young lady named Kate, because the city let a notorious illegal felon live there. He shot her, she was killed, and the city could care less. I used to enjoy travelling to SF, and I enjoyed the religious places, the great food, and the pleasant atmosphere. When the hippies took over, things changed, and not for the better. Because of Kate’s murder, and this insane law, I will not leave my heart in San Francisco anymore.

    • Your Fellow Catholic says:

We don’t need people like you , who lie and call us a communist city, to visit. We’re a better city without you. I have no idea who Kate is or the circumstances , but I’m sure it has zero to do with the people of the City of Saint Francis, or even the two or three communists who live here. Please leave your heart where you found it.

  15. Linda Maria says:

Charlotte, North Carolina, is the hometown of Billy Graham. A far better place, than the filth of San Francisco!

  16. “City worker.” An oxymoron for the most part, even without the modifier “essential.”

PS: Cheer up. Lee’s doing Mayberry RFD, NC a good turn. Might he do the same for Southern Cal–please?

  17. Linda Maria says:

Mayberry, RFD?? How FUNNY!! Andy Griffith’s character was a REAL MAN!! Can’t say the same, for the mayor of filthy, irresponsible, immature, immoral “Sodom-by- the-Sea!!” And his highly-paid, child-pornographer campaign aide, was a FILTHY CRIMINAL!! The manly Sherriff of Mayberry, would BREAK HIS NECK— and throw him in jail, for at least 99 years! And keep Mayberry SAFE, and a good place for kids!!

  18. From the Pew says:

Praise the Lord and ‘thank you’ Mr. Mayor for keeping your SF workers in SF! Let’s just say….this is a blessing for North Carolina. Even before SF policies allowed the murder of Kate, I personally would not want to travel to the city of SF. Official boycott anyone? Let’s offer a little prayer for all the ‘good Christian people’ left behind in the USA’a version of Sodom. It cannot be easy to deal with on a daily basis.

  19. Essential City Worker:

One city worker digs a hole. Presently, another city worker comes and fills it back up. Explanation?: The essential city tree planter didn’t show up for work again.
