San Francisco does not have enough children

The following comes from an April 21 posting on the blogsite of Father John Malloy.

On Saturday, April 21, Heather Knight, writing in the San Francisco Chronicle reported that the San Francisco Board of Supervisors have declared 2013 to be the “Year of the Child.”

Knight commented “It seemed a bit ironic considering San Francisco is plagued by family flight and counts just 13.5 percent of its residents as younger than 18, the smallest percentage of children of any city in the country, according to the 2010 census. Wouldn’t that be like Miami proclaiming it Year of the Snowman?”

Even more bizarre is that one of the resolution’s co-sponsors was supervisor Malia Cohen. It was Cohen who sponsored the legislation hampering the work of crisis pregnancy centers like First Resort and the Alpha Preganancy Center–organizations that will help mothers give birth to children. A June 7, 2011 press release from the Women’s Health Policy Report stated:

“Supervisor Malia Cohen is working with NARAL Pro-Choice California on legislation that would mirror laws in Austin, Texas and New York City, where centers are required to post signs that disclose whether they have medical professionals on staff and provide abortion care, contraception, or offer referrals for such services.”

  1. Tom Byrne says:

“Like Miami proclaiming a Year of the Snowman?”. More like MacDonald’s proclaiming a Year of the Cow. The last thing narcissistic hedonists want around is children. If the Board of Supervisors cared about kids they’d do something about the sky-high housing costs, lack of productive employment, poor schools and bizarre hyper-sexualized culture of the City. And they’d pass resolutions condemning Planned Parenthood, abortion and gay “marriage” as un-American, not the Church!

  2. All I can say is, “Well duh! It should be a no brainer to anyone whose head is not completely empty.”

  3. Proud Rhodesian says:

too bad for her…she’s not a bad lookin woman…

    • Kenneth M. Fisher says:

      Proud Rhodesian,

There are probably many good looking women and men in HELL! If fact, the so called good looking are probably an overwhelming majority in HELL!

God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
      Kenneth M. Fisher

    • Anne T. says:

Yes, she is pretty, Proud Rhodesian. Let us pray her inner beauty will match her outward beauty.

  4. Life Lady says:

Where have those people been? It is like saying “we don’t want any kids around but we’ll say we like them anyway.” They don’t have any room to declare it the Year of the Child when there are so few reasons for families to have their children grow up there. It’s oriented toward degenerate sex, hedonism, narcisism, and nobody in their right mind would think that any child will grow up to love God there, unless they hardly ever went out and could find family friendly things to do.

  5. Father Karl says:

Over thirty years ago when I visited San Francisco, there were still many Catholic high and grammar schools, a sign that there were children. Now, most of the schools have closed because there are no more children. Look really at any major city, not especially San Francisco, and what do you see?. Where once children played in the streets, parks or school playgrounds, there is now no activity. Abortion, contraception, and homosexuality are destroying the future of most formally Christian nations, and as a result, there are no children. The Pipe Piper of Hamlin (sexual liberation) is responsible.Unfortunately, Holy Mother Church has been silent, and instead of using Her maternal instincts to build up the Body of Christ, she has acted like an evil stepmother, and ignored Her God given mandate to care for and nurture Her young. Without children, we have no future. Pope Paul VI has been vindicated in his fight against birth control, and he predicted that these evils would happen. May God have mercy on us for what we have allowed to happen.

    • Anton L. Seidl says:

Bless you, Father Karl, for reminding us of Pope Paul VI. How long it has been! Today, I get blank stares fron fellow Catholics when I bring up Pope Paul’s encyclical Humanae Vitae. Most have never heard of it, least of all from the pulpit. These negligent priests will be held accounable some day. By turning a blind eye, they are responsible for the diastrous decline in our birth rates.

  6. If the SFO Board of Supervisors truly cared about children and a stable society, they would actively SUPPORT MARRIAGE (between one man and one woman).
They would reverse ALL local ordinances/legislation that support ABORTION, and the torture and murder of children though abortion. And reverse sexual education of children prior to High School, and then put the strongest emphasis on sexual abstinence prior to marriage.
At 9 weeks and 3 days unborn babies feel pain. – On the net go to: “Endowment for Human Development” for scientific information.
The Supervisors would be appalled if someone ripped off their limbs, yet they care nothing about the children who suffer through abortion.
Why would any “family” want to raise their children in a child-hating, family hating community?
We must remember that the VOTERS of SFO (as in all communities) have an obligation to vote for moral politicians – even at a local level. SFO is not a mentally healthy environment for families including their children.

    • If Obama gets his way, there will be a child shortage throughout the USA.

      • Anton L. Seidl says:

Obama was the first president ever to address Planned Parenthood. He is their best friend and a loyal supporter of the militant feminist lobby.
His party can be proud of him, a champion of unlimited abortions, including killing newborns. The US can be proud of having elected such a man not once, but twice…

  7. And SF aborts 2000 more babies each year than are born there. But they would never think about stopping that…

  8. With San Francisco’s perverted sense of logic and compassion this cry for more children could just be the advance promotion for importing the children from third world countries to fill the supply side of demand and supply. How else will they fill up the schools and pay for the teachers retirement and health benefits?

  9. good cause says:

SF also has a sheriff who beat the bejabbers out of his wife, was arrested, pled no contest, was suspended from his job by the mayor, but got his job back thanks to support from female members of the SF Board of Supervisors. What’s wrong with this picture?

  10. bwangi Kilonzo says:

I cannot help but wonder, when you have naked and ugly people walking your streets, you would expect a sane parent to have any children near your dissaster?

How many children do you think they have sired themselves? Too selfish to think of raising children.

  11. John Feeney says:

Year of the Dead Child would be appropriate!

  12. I’d laugh at the irony pointed out, except that it’s such an egregious, heartbreaking tragedy. SF is more than hostile to children. When I lived in SF 20 years ago, the absence of children was one of the most immediately noticeable things. It was disturbing, like living in the Twilight Zone, and frankly, evil.

    • Abeca Christian says:

Well maybe it would be safer for them to not live there….or be raised there…I would hope more faithful families would just up and move from there. I remember a good friend of mine who went to college there…he said he couldn’t believe how many homosexuals where there. He has never seen so many of them any where else and especially displaying such huge affection to one another. It felt weird to him and he actually felt like a minority there. That is what he expressed as he shared.

  13. Michael says:

The lack of children is a major problem in the First World, becausse people have turned away from family life and want to focus on possessions, careers, and so forth. They see children as a nuisance — but this attitude is DISASTROUS for any society, even a society of ATHEISTS, because a country needs to have a balance between young and old. Otherwise, who will take care of our elderly? Who will be left to work? How can a land thrive when the majority of its population is retired and a minority is making a living and having to pay taxes?

  14. juergensen says:

Homosexuals want children to rape them. After all, though they are only 2% of the population, homosexuals make up 33% of child sex abusers, proving they are disproportionately prone to child sex abuse and a real danger to all children.

  15. Anton L. Seidl says:

“Keep your rosaries off my ovaries” is how we were greeted in the City of Saint Francis the last time we participated in a March for Life. Signs proclaiming “Get the f… out of San Francisco” were flashed in our faces. Gaudy drag queens with painted faces yelling obscenities. These are some of my most cherished recollections of a city I once considered the most beutiful in the world. I would neither live there nor raise children there. I can’t see how any decenr person can. San Fransico is truly a cesspool of corruption, both moral and spiritual. It was not always thus; before the city became a haven for homosexuals, San Francisco was as wonderful and civilized a city as any in America. Its tolerance for alternative life styles caused its fall from grace. When you tolerate evil, you can be sure you’ll get more of it. Eventually you will be overwhelmed by it.
