Glendale – Glendale Youth Orchestra – Second Concert of the 30th Anniversary Season @ Alex Theatre

On Sunday, March 10, 2019 7:00 p.m. at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale. Our beloved conductor, Brad Keimach, will retire at the end of this season after 19 seasons.

Dozens of multi-cultural students ranging from 6th to 12th grade, from local (LOS ANGELES COUNTY) schools will be performing under the baton of conductor Brad Keimach.

This event promises to be impressive in all aspects.  Young musicians will be showcasing their talent and appreciation for classical music, while audience members can enjoy magnificent music.

The Glendale Youth Orchestra, conducted by Brad Keimach, performs its Second Concert of the 30th Anniversary Season on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA. The program will feature Handel’s Messiah with The St. Cecilia Chorale, The Simbayanan’ Chorale, and the Philippine Chamber Singers of Los Angeles. The soloists will be playing arias that are traditionally sung.

All solosits are current members of the orchestra:

Elaina Marriott, viola (Crescenta Valley High School);

Shannon Thomas, clarinet; and

Jaimie Yoon, violin (Crescenta Valley High School)


The St. Cecilia Chorale and The Simbayanan’ Chorale are based at Holy Family Church, Glendale.


The GYO is funded in part by a grant from the LA County Arts Commission.


Tickets are $15.00 and may be purchased from the Alex Theatre Box Office. Students, children and seniors may purchase tickets for $12 each. Groups of 15 or more get 15% off. Formed in 1989 by a group of Glendale music lovers and school teachers, the Glendale Youth Orchestra now attracts talented young musicians in grades 6-12 and college music programs from all over Los Angeles and the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys. Brad Keimach is a graduate of New York’s prestigious Juilliard School. Mr. Keimach studied conducting with the legendary Leonard Bernstein and holds an MFA from the Purchase Conservatory of the State University of New York. Mr. Keimach will retire at the end of this season after nineteen seasons.



The GYO’s mission is based on the belief that young people have a better chance of succeeding in their world if they appreciate and participate in its rich artistic and cultural traditions.  GYO provides young musicians in grades six through college with a unique opportunity to play classical music under the direction of Juilliard trained conductor, Brad Keimach, who studied with the legendary Leonard Bernstein.


The GYO has been a resident company of the Alex Theatre for more the twenty years. The GYO is also an Emeritus Premier LA Phil Youth Orchestra Mentorship Program. In 2007, GYO was selected to be a Los Angeles Philharmonic Youth Partner Orchestra, which provides the members quality time to meet and learn from the Philharmonic members.
