Abortion and Congress – what will local Catholics and Evangelicals do?

49th District hangs in balance between pro-life Harkey and pro-abortion Levin

Diane Harkey: Planned Parenthood attacks her as “unyielding opponent of a woman’s right to reproductive freedom.”

The following comes from an August 9 press release

Planned Parenthood Action Fund today endorsed Mike Levin for Congress in California’s 49th District.

“Voters face a stark choice in California’s 49th District this November. On one side, you have Diane Harkey, an unyielding opponent of a woman’s right to reproductive freedom. …., Mike Levin is a stalwart champion of women’s health and reproductive rights. With Roe vs. Wade at stake under this Congress and administration, we need Mike Levin in Congress to protect our rights,” said Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President of Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

“I stand with Planned Parenthood because I firmly believe that all women deserve access to quality reproductive health care,” stated Mike Levin in response. “With the Supreme Court teetering on the brink of overturning Roe vs. Wade, I will do everything in my power to prevent the federal government from stripping away or eroding these vital rights.”

Mike Levin, “a fierce supporter of the LGBTQ community”

On August 10, the Human Rights Campaign issued this statement:

With 86 days left to go until the critical 2018 midterm
elections, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), America’s largest LGBTQ
civil rights organization, will join Mike Levin to make an important
campaign announcement regarding Levin’s campaign to represent
California’s 49th Congressional District in the United States Congress.

Levin is a fierce supporter of the LGBTQ community and has vowed to be
persistent in the fight for equality and protection against
discrimination.

Comments

  1. Neither abortion nor artificial contraception have anything to do with women’s health, other than they help destroy a child and/or the woman’s body. Both the birth control pill and abortion contribute to breast cancer and other medical problems in women. That is one reason younger and younger women are getting such cancers. Mike Levin is not concerned about women, or even his own homosexual community, or he would not be pushing medical unsound behavior.

  2. The Watchman says:

You are absolutely right Anne TE that abortion of the unborn has nothing to do with women’s health because in all cases of abortion you are killing a human life. The unborn deserve every right to live. Let us all hope and pray the day is coming in the not too distant future that Roe versus Wade which legalized abortion in America in 1973 is once and for all overturned. 60 MILLION unborn baby children have been killed by abortion in America since 1973. Reproductive rights should be about preserving life not terminating life. End abortion now! Adoption is the loving option. Turn to a God of love and mercy before it is too late. Repent and convert! Pray America Pray. Pray Pray Pray!

  3. Ironic that “planned parenthood” is showing hostility to a woman. Going off script I guess…
