Our program provides clinical practice for up to nine (9) master’s students and/or post master’s license eligible interns per year. All participants rotate through both the Seaside and Watsonville offices to get maximum exposure to a variety of clients. Our interns are able to gain experience working with clients with various mental health diagnoses, ages, family constellations and cultural backgrounds.
•Our program takes into account the whole person, integrating the biological, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs of the individuals and families we serve.
•We welcome clients from across the spectrum of spiritual beliefs.
•The length of treatment is generally short term; six (6) to ten (10) months, however, the client’s needs and the psychological process are taken into account when making this determination.
•The services are provided at a low cost based upon a sliding scale and ability to pay.
Thanks to a special grant from the Monterey Hospice Foundation, interns may also have the opportunity to serve clients struggling with complex bereavement.
We emphasize culturally appropriate training for the varied Latino populations present in the cities we serve.
Stipends are available only when possible, for master’s and post-master’s interns who meet specific requirements.
