The following comes from an Oct. 11 story in the San Francisco Business News.
Donahue led Berkeley’s Graduate Theological Union, a group of seminaries, from 2000 to 2013, before coming to Saint Mary’s.
The 150-year-old Moraga school has about 4,000 students and around 200 staff.
Donahue, “a committed and engaged Roman Catholic,” is the first president of the school who isn’t a member of the Christian Brothers teaching congregation.
He has a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross, a master’s from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from the Graduate Theological Union.
Before leading the GTU, Donahue was a professor of theology and ethics at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., for 15 years.
