Porn producers protest L.A. County regulation

The following comes from a March 28 posting by the Ventura County Star.

The Camarillo City Council adopted a 45-day moratorium on production of pornographic movies, including on special-event permits and conditional-use permits after seeing more interest in filming permits.

The council unanimously approved the urgency ordinance at a special meeting Wednesday night. The moratorium would allow the city to study the effects of pornographic movie production on public health, safety and welfare of the community and determine whether more regulations should be imposed.

“It gives us a chance to study it so we can craft certain regulations,” Assistant City Attorney Don Davis said. “The ordinance is not regulatory; it is simply a prohibition on establishing new uses.”

Davis called the increased interest “unusual activity” for the city. Officials did not disclose the number of informal requests the city received but said some asked whether Camarillo had a condom ordinance, according to staff reports. Others asked about establishing a pornographic movie studio and asked questions about short-term filming in the city, officials said.Officials think the interest has arisen because Simi Valley and cities in Los Angeles County adopted ordinances requiring pornography producers to require actors to wear condoms while filming. In November, voters in Los Angeles approved Measure B, which requires pornography producers to take a course about blood-borne pathogens. In April, Simi Valley approved an ordinance requiring performers to wear dental dams that affix to the mouth during oral sex.

R U KIDDING ME? The last I heard, the west San Fernando Valley, especially Chatsworth and it’s environs, were THE place to produce and distribute filmed filth. Now the porno mob wants Camarillo to be ONE MORE CITY in which to create their amoral garbage? And are we to be seeing another collection of worthless city fathers falling all over themselves to conform to the latest “law” regulating such nauseous conduct? How come ALL of these cities and burgs where this noxious stuff is filmed and sent forth from just rise up and say “NO,” ‘WE DON’T ALLOW IT’; just one more example of the continual cave-in by those holding civic responsibilities to their duty to protect innocent youth from the depradations of the organized forces of lust. GOD PROTECT US FROM CONTEMPORARY DEPRAVITY!And I wonder how many abortion murders are generated through these horrific depictions of unbridled sordidness? Shades of Juvenal the satirist from 2nd century Rome. But I think 21st century America has already outdone ancient Rome in wickedness. GOD BLESS ALL, MARKRITE

  2. CCC: ” 2354 Pornography consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties.
It offends against chastity because it perverts the conjugal act, the intimate giving of spouses to each other.
It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others. It immerses all who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world.
It is a grave offense. Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials.”

CCC: ” 2396 Among the sins gravely contrary to chastity are masturbation, fornication, pornography, and homosexual practices.”

Viewing pornography is a Mortal Sin. Anyone who purposely views porn must never receive Holy Communion until after he or she Confesses with a firm purpose of amendment never to view it purposely again.

      Pete,

Are you aware that Fr. Richard Radcliff, a frequent speaker at Cdl Mahony’s (now Abp Gomez’s) REC advocates that all the attendees at that heresy ridden conference go see R rated “Broke Back Mountain”?

God bless, yours in Their Hearts,

Camarillo is a nice town, with weather once exclaimed the second-best in the entire world, tidy homes ranging from somewhat affordable to estate properties, an entire destination mall devoted to outlet sopping, and a significant population of retired folks in Camarillo’s much-admired Leisure World. I’m counting on the good people of Camarillo, including our Catholic friends at Padre Serra and Mary Magdalen, to put an end to this abomination. We stopped it in its infancy in Thousand Oaks a long time ago, and it can be stopped dead in its tracks there in Camarillo too if enough people protest loudly enough. It just takes having the will of the people speaking in one voice, and someone concerned enough to take on the project of running this new curse out of town on a rail.

  4. Well said Maryanne! Surely there must be a way to halt this before it even gets started. But are there enough courageous Camarilloites willing to stand up and demand that their city not be contaminated in such a manner? We will see after the 45 day moratorium, won’t we!

St. Nicholas of Myra pray for our protection from this immoral filth.

  6. Abeca Christian says:

I hope they stop this, although this area and around it are very liberal, I hope they have the good sense to stop this filth! My husband and I take trips to this area often. I pray that the good people persevere and stop this filth.

  7. This is why our homes need to have a prominent St. Benedict medal, a rosary, holy water, holy (specifically, actual exorcised) salt, images of the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart, something regarding St. Joseph, and something regarding St. Michael and even wonderful St. Raphael (vanquisher of the demon who presides over LUST).

In the world of St. Paul’s travels and more so now in this “great land”, every street is knotty with certain homes of great vice and some with beautiful virtue. Any sensitive soul could practically see them as corresponding pits of Gehenna, the polluted dump in the Hinnom Valley, where the refuse and bodies lie, and beautiful places where beautiful creatures, made in the image and likeness of God, live in grace and yet are besieged, though their Shepherd and angels are with them. And their Mother. Praise God.

But the creatures who live in the vice-filled homes are His creatures too, and must be prayed for and saved (by Him). Who can see a person, say one of these porn stars, and not feel overwhelming love and pity for such a wounded sheep?

Entire towns and regions can be overwhelmingly viceful and have a pall of self-inflicted curse drawn down upon them.

So it comes down to to protecting what one can protect: one’s own home, car, workplace, physical person.

There is so much sin in the world, and so many attendant demons.

Christians: as for you and your house, you must serve the LORD.
