U.S. Attorney General reverses federal policy on gender-identity rights

Law prohibits gender discrimination but that does not include sexual orientation or gender identity, Attorney General Jeff Sessions says in new memorandum

Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued a new memorandum stating that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 bans gender discrimination, but does not include sexual orientation or gender identity, in the workplace.

Title VII specifically bars employers from discriminating against employees based on sex, race, color, national origin and religion. The Attorney General officially withdrew a 2014 Obama-era policy protecting so-called “transgender” employees from discrimination under Title VII. The Attorney General stated that the Department of Justice will no longer interpret Title VII to mean that the law’s protections extend to discrimination based on gender identity. Sessions said the change will apply to “all pending and future matters” relating to “transgender” workers, which means that it could have an immediate impact on open discrimination cases.

Sessions wrote in the memo: “Title VII expressly prohibits discrimination ‘because of…sex’…and several other protected traits, but it does not refer to gender identity. “Sex is ordinarily defined to mean biologically male or female. Congress has confirmed this ordinary meaning by expressly prohibiting, in several other statutes, ‘gender identity’ discrimination, which Congress lists in addition to, rather than within, prohibitions on discrimination based on ‘sex’ or ‘gender.’ Accordingly, Title VII’s prohibition on sex discrimination encompasses discrimination between men and women but does not encompass discrimination based on gender identity per se, including transgender status. Therefore, as of the date of this memorandum, which hereby withdraws the December 15, 2014, memorandum, the Department of Justice will take that position in all pending and future matters…”

  1. Good. No one should be threated for refusing to participate in the LIE of transgenderism.

    • amen!!

    • Your Fellow Catholic says:

Why would anyone lie about their gender identification?

      • Because they do, your rights stop when I have to call a man a woman and a woman a man just because they feel that they are. You YFC are nothing more than a supporter of sexual anarchy and want this garbage ideology to seep into the Church so it can bend to your perverted whims.

      • “Now I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in PE,” [Mike] Huckabee said.
“I’m pretty sure that I would have found my feminine side and said, ‘Coach, I think I’d rather shower with the girls today.’ You’re laughing because it sounds so ridiculous doesn’t it?”

We had an incident in the “big-girls” store where a man dressed as a woman went into the dressing room while women were changing clothes. No one said anything to him. Maybe it was a transgender person who has to shop there because of his size or maybe it’s someone trying to get pictures of fat women to make fun of on the internet.
Stores need to go to individual dressing rooms and stores need to go to individual bathrooms.

Those in supervisory job positions, need common sense, not to be forced to cater to whims of mentaly sick people, who are biologically of one gender– but claim, all of a sudden– that they are the opposite gender! Those patients need psychiatric treatment!! Their superiors in the workforce, should not be forced to deal with their problems! In the workplace, you have a lot to get done, professinally– and you have to be fair, and practical! However- those in positions of authority, should always be kind to everyone, no matter who they might be, regardless! And salary raises and job promotions should always be based objectively, on job performance, with no discrimination.

    • Linda Maria says:

In the workforce, including the military– everyone has to pull together, set aside petty preferences, work around personal needs and whims– and all pul together, to do a great job!! Then, after you get home, in your own place– you can, to some degree, do as you like– yet, you still have to be fair, with family members in your home– or, if single– be fair, with the people you live with! The world cannot revolve around one person, and their big, “dramatic traumas,” in life! In the military, and in similar, “life-and-death” jobs — (firefighting, police, EMTs, medical professions, etc.)– you have to be mature enough, and mentally stable enough– to focus entirely on your work, to defend lives, and to save lives!!

It isn’t all rainbows and book deals.. Undergoing gender reassignment is regarded as the Holy Grail for those struggling with their sex. When the potentially fatal outcomes are not adequately tracked, however, shouldn’t honesty be the priority when speaking about the lifelong effects of…

The problem of having compassion for such Sickness, and simultaneously rejecting Self Mutilation in service of Fetishes, is a vexing one. Prayer only does so much, and saying No to such acts is also required, lest others emulate while seeking said compassion.

When the legless man drove up on his own to meet Dr. Michael First for brunch in Brooklyn, it wasn’t just to show Dr. First how independent he could be despite his disability.

show Dr. First that he had finally done it — had finally managed to get both his legs amputated, even though they had been perfectly healthy.

Dr. First, a professor of psychiatry at Columbia University, had gotten to know this man through his investigations of a bizarre and extremely rare psychiatric condition that he is calling body integrity identity disorder, or B.I.I.D.

    • Linda Maria says:

Bizarre case! And it just goes to show– you canot get anything done in the workplace- or in the military, or in schools, working with kids– when you have to deal with bizarre psychiatric cases constantly, and cannot do your job effectively! Patients with rare psychiatric illnesses, need proper medical care– and don’t belong in these situations, claiming their “rights”– when in fact– they desperately need specialized medical care, and their crazy behavior impairs the normal work process! You can’t fool around, when you are serving your country or community– especially, in extreme life-and-death situations!! Common sense is a necessity!

Could it be that both Dr. First and his leg-less friend are just plain crazy? Not “sick”. CRAZY!
