‘Green Street Park’ is a story about a young boy, his family, and community, who learn to care for God’s creation and their own neighborhood by imitating the model of St. Francis of Assisi.

The following comes from an April news release on the USCCB website:

Two illustrated storybooks offer elementary school-aged children, their parents and teachers examples of how to put their faith in action and participate in solutions to important problems related to the life and dignity of others. The books provide much-needed resources in Catholic social teaching for this age group and are accompanied by age-appropriate learning resources.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has published the books through Loyola Press.

“These beautifully illustrated books are a true treasure for parents as well as all educators in teaching children how they, as the followers of Jesus, can solve problems affecting human life and dignity in our backyards and half a world away,” said Bishop Jaime Soto of Sacramento, chairman of the USCCB Subcommittee on the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, the bishops’ domestic anti-poverty program.

" In 'Drop by Drop,' students at a Catholic school 'journey' across the world to Burkina Faso, West Africa, and learn how a lack of water affects the lives of children there. The students learn about the work of Catholic Relief Services, see how the problem gets solved, and make a plan to help."

Bishop Soto added: “The Story of ‘Green Street Park’ shows the practical beauty of Jesus’ words in Mark’s Gospel, ‘The Kingdom of God is at hand.’ And ‘Drop by Drop’ is a beautiful metaphor for justice that will roll like a river. The story will help young and old plumb their faith as well as their imagination for the untapped resources of the Spirit seeking to renew the face of the earth.”

With “Care for God’s creation” a prominent theme in both books, they also serve as a resource to help families, parishes and schools prepare for the release of Pope Francis’ anticipated encyclical on environmental stewardship.

Keep your children away from anything to do with CRS.

Indoctrination of children regarding the CRS is an abomination.

(It is one more way for the USCCB to get money.)

  2. When are the Bishops going to teach children:
    Why did God make me?
To know, love and serve Him on this earth, and be happy with Him in heaven.

When are Bishops going to teach children that God always comes first, otherwise it becomes idolatry.

  3. This is all we need to know for Doctrine of the Faith on the environment.
Not any Clergy’s personal opinions that have little to do with Faith and Morals.

CCC: ” 339 Each creature possesses its own particular goodness and perfection. For each one of the works of the “six days” it is said: “And God saw that it was good.”
“By the very nature of creation, material being is endowed with its own stability, truth and excellence, its own order and laws.”
Each of the various creatures, willed in its own being, reflects in its own way a ray of God’s infinite wisdom and goodness.
Man must therefore respect the particular goodness of every creature, to avoid any disordered use of things which would be in contempt of the Creator and…

Did you completely forget about CCC 2415, or did you just pretend it isn’t in there?

Eric Blair, better known as George Orwell, correctly lent his pen-name to childhood indoctrination: i.e., “Orwellian”.

On childhood indoctrination and Big Brother:

“In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality, was tacitly denied by their philosophy. The heresy of heresies was common sense.” ― George Orwell, 1984

Will Al Gore be the next pope?

    • Your Fellow Catholic says:

I don’t think Al Gore is Catholic. yet.

      • Anonymous says:

Gore is too busy making carbon pollution by flying around in a private jet.
And too busy making money speaking and writing against others creating carbon.
Gore doesn’t give two hoots about the Catholic Church and/or the Pope. But he will certainly ‘use’ them to make more money for himself.

  6. Bob One says:

God forbid that we should teach kids to protect the earth on which they and their progeny will live. Instead, why don’t we teach them to spoil the water, waste the water, drain the lakes to water the lawns and all of the other wonderful things we can do to wreck havoc while we are here.

    • Anonymous says:

BobOne, we must teach our children what the CCC says about the environment.
It is the the job of the USCCB to indoctrinate our children about their CRS.

      • Anonymous says:

Should have been – it is NOT the JOB of the USCCB to indoctrinate our children about their CRS , and the CRS’s promotion of evil.

    • Canisius says:

Yes God forbid Bob One that we stuff our kids heads with Leftist clap trap that we can control the climate and the weather…This is all about control Bob One, globalist/leftist want as much power as they can possibly get, may it lead to backlash that they have dreamed of.

    • Why is the argument either/or?

I know there is a name for this rhetorical device. I just can’t recall it right now.

If a Priest or anyone handed my children booklets which plug and promote the USCCB’s CRS, I would throw it in the trash.

Now parents even have to be concerned about brainwashing and unholy influence from the Bishops Conference.
The CRS needs to be disbanded.
And the USCCB have to stop their own charities stop taking money from Obama’s evil government.
