Fr. Michael Kiernan has served for many years as Diocesan Director of Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs, Director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Sacramento and Director of St. Patrick’s Home for Children, in Sacramento. OUR BIGGEST AND MOST IMPORTANT FUNDRAISING EVENT OF THE YEAR! It’s also one of the most fun!! This year is no exception as we feature internationally known comedian, Nazareth!

This is NOT a women’s only event. To help raise healthy families requires healthy families be involved. Although we have some male volunteers, in order to serve the husbands/boyfriends/dads well we MUST have men involved. We’d like at least 50% of our guests at this event to be men

Seating begins at 6:30. The event begins at 7 PM with a full plated meal. There is NO charge for this event, but as we all know fundraisers cost money. We prefer for the funds we raise that night to go to our budget rather than to our event costs.

Those who sponsor tables ($550) will ensure the costs are covered up front and have a name/business name printed in our program However we rely on our partners and the sanctity of life community to help fill our tables (8 persons at each tabe) with folks who need to hear about the life saving work we do. We are a privately funded, faith based non-profit. We provide FREE pregnancy related services to women and families in our community. We keep our doors open and provide FREE services becaue of our parnters’ generosity.

Check out our webiste and plan to join us for this fun, semi formal evening wth internationally known comedian, Nazareth!

A Woman’s Friend is excited to announce that our Banquet speaker is I’m not broken. You don’t need arms to be happy Author Chet McDoniel. On January 5th, 1980, Chet McDoniel was born into this life with no arms and shortened legs. Though dealt a vicious blow in the delivery room, Chet’s parents decided to raise him as they would any other child. They instilled a positive attitude in Chet that carries with him through to this day.

CATHOLIC POTPOURRI: Part II

Rev. Edward Pepka, Ph.D.

Saturday, October 20, 10:00 until Noon

The questions continue, and Father has the answers. Our break from the study of second-century writings leaves us open for a morning to have some fun looking at our faith. Fr. Pepka has made up a series of questions about a variety of (almost entirely) Catholic teachings, persons, places, practices, events, and achievements. Be ready for a barrage of true/false, multiple choice, and short-answer questions–and consider it all a learning experience!

Reverend Edward Pepka was a missionary in Kenya, East Africa, from 1987 until 1991. Read more about Reverend Pepka

Monday, October 22: Votive Mass. of St. Philip Neri

Monday, October 22, 19:30 (7:30 P.M.)

Sung Votive Mass of St. Philip Neri

in the Traditional Roman Rite

Celebrant: Rev. Fr. John Lyons, F.S.S.P.

St. Anne Catholic Church

621 Sicard St. San Diego, CA 92113-2396

Because in the traditional Roman calendar May 26 was this year an Ember Day of Pentecost, we could not celebrate the feast day of our holy patron, St. Philip Neri. Therefore we honor him belatedly with a votive sung Mass. We are very grateful to Fr. Lyons, the pastor, for offering the Sacrifice on our behalf and also for granting us the use of St. Anne Catholic Church. The brothers will serve and sing the chants of the Mass. Please join us.
